Putting AI to work on the weekly grind
I used Claude and ChatGPT to take recurring work off my plate and my team's. It saved several hours every week, and the numbers held up because I tested them hard first.
Problem
Some of the most useful work was also the most repetitive: weekly reports, a roundup of what my team had on its plate, an internal newsletter, and a marketing email benchmark report. Each one took hours of pulling, copying and writing.
Move
I built repeatable setups in Claude and ChatGPT for each one.
The email benchmark report was set up once and reruns on fresh data. It was the biggest time saver. The weekly reports work the same way. The team roundup turns my team's updates into one view of what's in flight and where people are stuck.
The internal newsletter pulls from several internal documents. It took the most refining to get the structure and tone right, and it's the one I'm proudest of.
What went sideways
The early versions got numbers wrong. While testing, I caught data errors and kept reworking each setup until I trusted the output on every run. I didn't call one done until the numbers matched the source.
Result
Several hours back every week, and a clear weekly view of the team's workload and roadblocks.
What I'm building now
A tool that helps marketing teams plan campaigns and learn from them. It's early, so there are no results to share yet.
